Slack is down globally on the first work day of 2021

Workplace collaboration service Slack is down globally. Tracking website Down Detector showed a spike in reports of problems with the messaging app, has reported over 15,000 user complaints on January 4.

Slack tweeted on Monday morning that “Customers may experience issues connecting to Slack to loading channels at this time. Our team is on the case and we will keep you posted. Apologies for any disruption.”

Slack is down causes disruptions for remote workers, with issues loading channels and sending messages on the workplace chat platform. The video and chat platform helps remote workers stay in touch and has been particularly important during the Covid pandemic. Slack shares were down about 0.7% in late-morning trading Monday.

The outage began around 10 a.m. Eastern time and disrupted service in the U.S., Germany, India, the U.K., Japan and elsewhere. Slack said that people should check https://status.slack.com for updates
